Operation Sindoor: Rahul Gandhi Demands Explanation from Government

New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has now stepped up his attack on External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, stating that the minister has chosen to keep silent over the allegations that the Indian government disclosed prior knowledge of Operation Sindoor to Pakistan.

Early this morning, Gandhi took to social media platform X to say, "EAM Jaishankar's silence is not only telling. It's damning." The congressman reiterated the crime he termed the "evasion of operation details by offending Pakistan" which he described as demonetizing accountability for such decisions in government.

Operation Sindoor was a military operation initiated by India on 7 May and has come under the political lens following reports that officials in Pakistan were aware of the operation beforehand. The government has not issued any such confirmation, but according to Gandhi, the matter is disputed with regards to not only the "timing" of such communication but also the intent during the course of sensitive national security operations.

In addition to raising the question about Jaishankar's silence concerning Sindh, Gandhi also reiterated his call for clarity on the number of Indian Air Force aircraft that were lost during the operation-an issue the government, he alleged, wanted to avoid.

There is no response yet from the Ministry of External Affairs regarding these fresh allegations. Meanwhile, BJP dismissed as unsubstantiated and politically motivated, the allegations made by Gandhi.
